Once again, the Premier League has omitted legendary Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs from their latest Hall of Fame shortlist announcement.
Despite Giggs holding the record for the most assists in Premier League history and securing the title 13 times, he has been overlooked yet again, even after being cleared of domestic violence charges last year.
Facing allegations of assault occasioning actual bodily harm related to an incident involving his ex-girlfriend Kate Greville, as well as further accusations of coercive or controlling behavior and common assault against her sister Emma, Giggs underwent a ten-minute court hearing last July. However, with the prosecution offering no evidence, he was acquitted of all charges.
While Giggs remains absent from the Premier League’s shortlist, six of his former Manchester United teammates have secured nominations.
Notably, former Liverpool striker Michael Owen and John Terry are vying for induction for the fourth time, alongside three new entrants: Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard, and David Silva, who have become eligible following their retirements from professional play.
