Dr. Tony Aubynn, an executive member of the Ghana Football Association(GFA), has spoken out against any outside interference in the hunt for the next Black Stars coach.
The hunt for a new Black Stars coach appears to have taken a political turn, with reports claiming that the government is pressuring the Ghana Football Association(GFA) to choose their choice.
According to the article, the GFA has chosen Otto Addo as the new Black Stars coach, but the government, which is responsible for paying national team coaches, is lobbying for the hiring of Chris Hughton, the former Brighton and Hove Albion manager.
In response to queries about a specific Otchere Darko advocating for Chris Hughton’s appointment, Dr. Tony Aubynn advised the aforementioned individual to leave the task to those with the technical know-how.
“I had a teacher called Otchere Darko so I don’t know if he is the one you are refereeing to as the man bringing Chris Hughton. But whether you are Otchere or Darko please leave the appointment of the coach to the technical people, “he said in an interview on Accra-based FM Station.
Both government and GFA officials are reported to be pulling strings for their favorite pick to secure the post, with Chris Hughton and Otto Addo said to be the frontrunners for the vacant Black Stars role.
