Asante Kotoko were left red-faced after Godfred Kwadwo Asamoah’s perfectly placed ball delivered all three points for the bottom-ranked Heart of Lions in Kpando.
The Lions kicked off matchweek 18 of the 2023–24 Ghana Premier League as they welcomed the Porcupine Warriors at the Kpando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The hosts began the game on the front foot as they created a host of chances in the first half.
Asante Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Frederick Asare, made outstanding saves from two direct freekicks in the first half.
The start of the second half was not any different from the first, but seven minutes into it, Godfred Kwadwo Asamoah received a pass from the right wing, which he placed in the bottom left corner of the goal to give the people of Kpando something to cheer about and secure a precious win.
The win has propelled the league returnees to 14th on the Ghana Premier League standings.
