According to reports, Dr. Kwame Kyei, owner of the Ghana Premier League newbies, Nations FC, has rewarded his playing staff with an amount of GHS50,000 for their impressive victory over Asante Kotoko.
The League’s newcomers are proving to thorn in the flesh over Asante Kotoko after holding them to a 2-2 draw at home in the first round and beating them in the returning encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Asamoah Boateng Afriyie’s 48th-minute header in the first half was enough to condemn Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum’s side to a fourth consecutive defeat.
To make matters worse for the Porcupine Warriors, they have been charged by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) with a breach of Section 16 of the GFA Disclipinary Coade, 2019 and Section 34 (6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations following their supporters behavior towards match officials in the game against Nations FC on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
However, the club condemned the actions of its supporters in an official statement on Monday morning.
A portion of the statement read, “It must be noted that under no circumstances will Asante Kotoko condone any act that violates and undermines the sporting integrity of the game.”
