Evans Osei Owusu, the game’s most valuable player, put on an outstanding display that condemned Aboubakar Outtara to his first defeat as Hearts of Oak‘s head coach in the Ghana Premier League.
Osei Owusu of FC Samartex scored the opening goal in the 25th minute after Francis Gyetuah did a fantastic job of winning the ball off Liventius Arthur in the penalty area and sending a cross that the goal scorer headed beyond Richard Attah.
Goal-poacher extraordinaire Hamza Issah struck a rebound from close range in the 77th minute to give the Phobians an equalizer. They were determined not to lose and managed to create numerous chances during the second half.
Aboubakar Outtara’s team, however, was unable to hold on for long as Evans Osei Owusu effectively handled a long pass from his defense to blast the football past Richard Attah for the winner.
The win solidifies FC Samartex’s hold on the summit of the Ghana Premier League standings while Hearts of Oak are at the risk over moving down should, Asante Kotoko defeat Nations FC on Sunday night.
