Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum, the head coach of Asante Kotoko, has praised midfielder Justice Blay for his outstanding performance against King Faisal on Match Day 23.
The former Medeama player, who suffered a long-term injury while at the Tarkwa-based club last season, has had a sluggish start to his second Kotoko stay, but he reminded everyone of his abilities on Sunday.
Asante Kotoko won the game 1-0 when left defender Ibrahim Imoro skillfully struck a free kick to give the porcupine warriors vengeance over their rivals.
Blay, according to the Kotoko coach, provides him with a lot of choices on the pitch, and he is happy that he is developing after initially struggling.
“It is a clear indication that Blay is a multi-functional player; he can play in several positions as a centre back, as a defensive midfielder and as offensive midfielder.
“So he gives me options on the field like that of Mudasiru and Sherif Mohammed, these players also give me options in the middle of the pitch,” Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum stated on StarTimes after the game.
“I am happy for him. He has not had a good time since joining us, probably coming in late and he is yet to pick it to the game model, but then today playing him as a centre back having the confidence in him and him proving himself that he is capable of doing it, I am happy for him and I am happy for my team, Asante Kotoko too.”
On Sunday, Kotoko will face Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium.
