One man’s success is another man’s downfall. This is the story of Maila and Victoria, two talented athletes, playing for the same Track and Field Team.
One day, the coach had to make a bitter decision to choose one athlete out of the two best athletes from the team to represent the Philippines in the upcoming SEA Games which will be held in Singapore.
This makes Maila suffers a tragic fate when her best friend, Victoria becomes jealous of her success as well as gaining the attention of Joey, a man she loves. With the help of her crush Rigor, Vicky gets rid of Maila from the games to represent the Philippines in Singapore.
Vicky becomes a successful athlete and her poverty condition turns around while Maila becomes cripple after the attack she suffered. She is confined in a wheelchair and is advised not to partake in any athletic games again. It is sad for Maila to see her dreams crash down without her being able to do anything about it but she didn’t give up.

All that she has now is Joey and her beloved father. She then undergoes various therapy to get on her feet once again. Vicky fails to keep her end of the bargain to be the girlfriend of Rigor after five years of courting her.
As Maila and Joey marry to begin their family, Vicky discovers that she is pregnant for Rigor but she frames up Rigor to get him behind bars while she begins a new relationship with a wealthy businessman Roman Dela Verga, owner of Dela Verga Industries.
13 years later, Maila moves from Pampanga with Joey, her father, and two children to a new place. There, her first daughter Bianca who took after her met Gabriel, a boy raised by his grandmother and he is also searching desperately for his father who went missing years ago. Through an accident, Bianca lost one of her athletic shoes in the sea.
Gabriel is also a diver due to that incident he lost a chance to be friends with Bianca. As fate will have it, they discover that they are classmates. How will the two be able to cast their pride and feud aside to become friends?
Vicky, on the other hand, has a son with Roman. The boy’s name is Carlos, he is an illegitimate son whom Roman gave birth to in his fun with a socialite who died during delivery.
