The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IBG Social Media Communication, George Agyeman-Budu, has called on businesses to take advantage of trending stories on social media to sell their products.
That, he said, was an effective strategy to advertise, make money, and make brands well known to people.
Speaking on Max FM’s TechTalk program in Accra on Tuesday, the social media expert explained that brands should not sideline themselves whenever there is a trending topic on social media like Facebook, Twitter (x), and Instagram.
He said brands could tap into it to craft a captivating message around the trending topic to drive the audience’s attention in order to sell their goods and services.
Citing an example of how KFC took advantage of a recent beef fight between two Ghanaian musicians that was trending on Twitter, Agyeman-Budu said the company used the opportunity to sell its chicken and advised other businesses to take cues from that.
