Ace reggae musician Shasha Marley has disclosed that he was inspired by some great men of God in the Bible who took the Nazareth vows to lock their hair.
He mentioned names like John the Baptist, Sampson, and Jesus Christ, who were all Nazarites and had taken the Nazareth vows not to touch their hair with a razor or blade.

Shasha Marley, in an interview with Max Morning Agenda in Accra on Friday, stated that he began locking his hair after gaining in-depth knowledge about dreadlocks.
According to him, not all men with dreadlocks were rastafarians, but what made one a rastafarian was consciousness.
He admitted that many Ghanaians had, for some time, stigmatized those with dreadlocks with the belief that they were weed smokers and were leading ghetto lives.
“But now, due to fashion, the stigma had drastically dwindled since many were locking their hair,” Shasha said.

He stated that after reading the Holy Book to know how special the Bible described John the Baptist and other Nazarites, he was inspired by their stories to be like them.
Shasha Marley then followed the steps of those Nazarites, and he refrained from cutting his hair.
