Barcelona Star, Memphis Depay has arrived in Ghana with a powerful delegation of international football players, musicians and movie stars.
The former Manchester United player is expected to launch an academy in the Central Region on his visit to Ghana.
He was also accompanied by England international and former Liverpool stricker Rhian Bruewster, Holland National Team Scout Edgar Davids and young British movie icon Micheal Ward, who stared in the hit series “Top Boy”.
The coordinator for the event, Akosua Dentaa Amoateng MBE, has said that further information on the visit will be released. Which is a huge surprise to Ghanaians as they touch down at the Kotoka International Airport to music, fun fair and “Jama”.
Imax Media head of sports, Yaw Ampofo-Ankrah, who was at the airport to welcome the delegation, said “The atmosphere at Kotoka is electrifying, this is fantastic and we must congratulate the initiators of this trip.”
Memphis Depay traces his Ghanaian roots to his mother.
The former Manchester United star had a decent first season in Spain, scoring 12 goals in 28 La Liga games.
He was also in top form for Holland in the European Nations league with the Dutch national team, scoring three goals in the last three matches.
His contract with Spanish giants Barcelona ends in the summer of 2023.
