According to Gifty Oware-Mensah, the chair of the Black Queens’ management committee, the national teams of the Ghana Football Association never utilize the Accra Sports Stadium for free.
There are concerns about how successfully the Black Queens’ pivotal Olympic Games qualification against Zambia on Friday, February 23, 2024, will proceed after the Ghanaian Electricity Company halted electricity supply to the Accra Sports Stadium.
She disclosed to max.com.gh that each time the FA uses the Accra Sports Stadium, they pay the National Sports Authority.
“The GFA pays for the use of Accra Sports Stadium anytime the national team plays. It is never free. We pay for it. These are some of the conversations anyone who wishes to help the Black Queens must have with us.”
The chairperson further said that because the game would be played in the evening, they had guarantees that sufficient lighting would be provided.
“They are assuring us we are going to get it because the game would start at 5 p.m. and end at 7 p.m.”
