The Ghana Football Association has launched the Women’s Football Strategy in Accra, Ghana. The event was attended by various stakeholders in the women’s football ecosystem, including commentators of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, Esther Abankwa, and Nafisa Fattal.
The launch took place at the Swiss Spirits Alisa Hotel and was graced by President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku and Vice President Mark Addo of the Ghana Football Association.
The development of the Women’s Football Strategy was facilitated by the Technical Directorate of the Ghana Football Association, with Technical Director Bernhard Lippert, Director of Coach Education Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah, and Ama Brobbey Williams, the head of the Women’s Football Desk, playing key roles.
The Keynote address at the event was delivered by Professor Peter Twumasi, the Director General of the National Sports Authority, on behalf of Ghana’s Chief of Staff, Hon. Akosua Frema Opare.
Several notable figures were present at the launch, including former Ghana defender Anthony Baffoe, Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association Samuel Aboabire, Chairman of the Central Regional Football Association Robert Duncan, President of Berry Ladies Dr. Gifty Oware-Mensah, former Black Queens Coach and Ghana International Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo, and Anita Owiredu.
The Women’s Football Strategy focuses on six pillars within the women’s football ecosystem, namely grassroots football development, talent identification, marketing and sponsorship, enhancement of national teams, league development, and education.
This strategic initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Ghana Football Association to further develop and promote women’s football in the country. By addressing these key areas, the association aims to strengthen the foundation of women’s football and propel it to new heights in Ghana.
