The 1990 World Cup winning goal scorer, former Germany defender Andreas Brehme, passed away at the age of sixty-three.
In the 1990 tournament final in Rome, Brehme secured victory over Argentina by converting a late penalty.
He won for 86 caps, scoring eight goals, and a league champion at Kaiserslautern, Bayern Munich, and Inter Milan.
Brehme “died suddenly” following a cardiac arrest, according to his partner Susanne Schaefer, who spoke to German news agency DPA.
