George Boateng, the Black Stars’ assistant coach for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, claims that the team has the best pre-tournament preparations.
After losing to Portugal and Uruguay and winning against Korea, the Black Stars exited the competition in the group stage.
Because Andre Ayew missed a crucial penalty in the last group match against Uruguay, Ghana finished last in the division.
Before playing their last exhibition game against Switzerland in September, Ghana played two international friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua.
“When we look back we can say we had good preparation and organization, we planned well. As coaches, staff, and as a team, when we look back there is no way we could say that we missed out on something,” he said in a video shared on his Instagram page analyzing the team at the Mundial.
“All the players hadn’t played in a World Cup game before so the preparation against Switzerland was very good. Also, the victory and the way we played against Switzerland gave the team a morale boost in terms of confidence.”
Ghana failed not advance past the group stages as they were eliminated after finishing last in Group H with only three points.
