Two of the Bechem United’s young players, Aaron Essel and the tenacious Clinton Duodu, were recently included in the Guardian’s list of the top 60 young footballers in the world. Bechem United plays in the Ghana Premier League (GPL).
The UK-based tabloid, known as “The Next Generation 2022,” conducts an annual search for talented young football players who they believe will soon take the game by storm.
Both players were particularly great for the Hunters last season, contributing to their third-place finish in the GPL in 2021–2022, as well as their trip to the league cup final, which they almost lost.
Last season, Aaron Essel solidified himself as one of the league’s top laterals thanks to his outstanding play on the right side of the defense.
Additionally, Clinton Duodu, who is just 17 years old, has long been a revelation in Ghana’s top division, and last season was no different as he won the FA Cup’s award for the best young player.
They have earned a spot on the Guardian’s list of “The Next Generation” for 2022 thanks to their excellent and consistent performance.
Still, neither player has recorded a victory in Bechem United’s first two games of the 2022–23 football season, which is a nervous start compared to the previous year.
After declaring in March that he wanted to play with legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo before the former Real Madrid great retired from the sport, Duodo has already set his sights on competing in European football.
