Stephen Appiah, a former captain of Ghana, has refuted rumors that he would play for the Black Stars again.
The 41-year-old retired from football in 2012, and the Accra Sports Stadium honored him in 2015 with a testimonial game.
A recent video of the ex-Juventus midfielder working out, however, has sparked rumors about a potential comeback to active football.
On his Twitter feed, Appiah replied to this by stating that the film was an advertisement he had shot in Thailand and that he was still retired.
“This was an advert I shot in Thailand for Vitamilk oooo… Retired 10 years ago and I am not turning back… Just ignore any such news,” he tweeted.
In 2006, Appiah led Ghana to their inaugural FIFA World Cup appearance in Germany.
Appiah represented the Black Stars 67 times between the ages of U-17 and U-20, scoring 14 goals.
He helped to introduce a flat bonus structure for both domestic and international players, and is regarded as one of Ghana’s finest leaders.
