The decision to let clubs to register players using just Ghana cards before to the 2022–23 football season has been delayed, according to Prosper Harrison Addo, general secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The GFA informed the clubs prior to the start of the new campaign that the Ghana card will be the only document used to register players for the forthcoming season.
According to Prosper Harrison Addo, the majority of the players, technical staff, and other participants had not yet received their Ghana cards, therefore they decided to pause the process.
“Yes, initially we had communicated to all clubs that the Ghana card will be solely used for player registration before the league commences,” he told Starr Sports.
“But we had to put it on hold because most of the people involved in this exercise don’t have their cards ready to use for the whole exercise,” he added.
The league’s registration period will end on August 15, 2022, paving the way for the beginning of the 2022–2023 Betpawa Ghana Premier League (GPL).
