Samuel Inkoom, a former full-back for the Black Stars, has disclosed why he detested facing Asante Kotoko during his time with Hearts of Oak.
In 2022, the 34-year-old returned to his homeland to play for bitter rivals of Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, after leaving Georgian top flight side, Torpedo Kutaisi.
Despite playing for the Phobians, Inkoom, who has played for fourteen different teams in his career, said in an interview on Max 89.7 FM that he will always adore the Porcupine Warriors.
“I have to be very honest. I am a fan of Kotoko. Even His Royal Highness (Togbe Afede) knows I am a Kotoko fan. There are somethings you don’t have to fake.
Everyone at Hearts knew I support Kotoko before I joined. My career took me to Hearts and you know, the job is the job. You have to be professional.”
He said he realized how much he had accomplished for the team when he saw the jeering of the Kotoko supporters on his Hearts debut.
“If you noticed I hardly featured in Hearts matches against Kotoko except for one, my first match for the club which I played 20 minutes in the second half. I was even jeered when I came onto the field. It made me realized I achieved something big with Kotoko.”
