After a rough run in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) , Asante Kotoko have won their past two games .
The Porcupine Warriors, who had only won one of their previous five league games, were able to break their losing streak by defeating Medeama away.
On matchday 31 of the local top-flight, the two-time African champions defeated the Yellow and Mauves 2-0 at the Akoon Park.
Andrew Appau scored two goals, and the team was on fire. Frank Mbella made sure Kotoko got all of the points they needed to close the gap on the Tarkwa-based team.
Due to Mudasiru Salifu’s red card in the second half, Kotoko had to play the entire second half with 10 men.
Despite having to play with 10 men after the interval, Prosper Narteh’s team never gave up, picking up the maximum points to improve their prospects of winning the league.
After losing, Medeama has plummeted to third place, while Kotoko has opened a nine-point lead at the top.
The Porcupine Warriors have 59 points and with three games remaining, the Kumasi-based team can claim the title with a little help.
