18 Primary and Junior High Schools are currently competing in Ayawaso West Constituency to select a unified U-14 Municipal Soccer team.
The Head teachers education and sports initiative which kicked off on Thursday 20th April, is backed by the various PE masters and supported by the Municipal Assembly.
Mr. Alfred Opoku who is the Physical Education Coordinator of the Ayawaso West Education Directorate, is also one of the initiators of the tournament.
Speaking exclusively to Max Sports, he stated that sports at the grassroots level with channeled educational input would produce better future athletes and academicians.
“In order to have a broader scope of engagement and encourage wider participation, a girls soccer competition is being played simultaneously here”.
Table tennis, volleyball and netball are the other competitions being keenly contested at the popular community school park.
The grand finale of the soccer competition would be played on Friday 21st April at 4pm.
