Reverend Willie Vanderpuje, the Head Pastor of Royal House Chapel, ACP Pokuase branch, says women cannot divorce their partners over lack of sexual intimacy.
According to him, marriage is sacred and is beyond sexual pleasure, thus advised couples having “sexless marriage” to explore other meaningful means to create a strong and enduring bond that will sustain their marriage.

Sharing his views from the Christian perspective of a wife who is seeking for divorce after two years of being denied sex in her marriage on Max Morning Dew in Accra on Monday, Rev. Vanderpuje condemned the act and termed it as unbiblical.
He said marriage was built on a solid ground to endure all situations, “for better or for worse.”

“So as a wife you cannot cheat on your husband simply because he is not gratifying your sexual desires. A noble wife will rather sit the man down, to resolve the issue and to help him overcome those challenges,” Rev. Vanderpuje added.
He, however, acknowledged that physical and emotional intimacy were undoubtedly an integral part of any healthy marriage but lacking it did not warrant a divorce.
“Sex in marriage is either for procreation or for pleasure” and as a Christian, he said you could only divorce when the man is found in the act of sexual immorality as quoted in the Bible Matthew 19: 9.

On her part, a renowned legal practitioner, Kezia Kenneth Azumah stated that a woman who is denied sex could divorce on the legal basis of the “marriage broken down beyond reconciliation.”
She also stated that the court would also ensure the man make all the financial provision or alimony due the wife after divorcing the sexual incapable man.
