Ghanaian rapper and lyricist, Emmanuel Kofi Botwe, identified in showbiz as Kwaw Kesse, has shared the source of inspiration for his most recent hit song, “Awoyo Sofo.”
As someone with first-hand knowledge, Kwaw Kesse said in an interview with the media that there has been an unsettling rise in deceptive religious leaders, whom he called “false prophets.”
The rapper claims that the phrase “Awoyo” is a common term with Central Region origins.
The celebrated artist related an inappropriate dispute he had in front of a congregation with an unnamed pastor.
“I was told by a group of people a few years ago that their pastor had a vision about me, so I was supposed to go and see him. I don’t believe in such things, but I was persuaded by my wife to go and listen to what he had to say.”
The Abodam hitman refuted every statement the church leader had made about him (Kwaw Kesse), noting that his mother’s subsequent investigations had proven these statements to be untrue.
“I get to the church, and the prophecy was a lie; the pastor said my family from Agona Nyakrom is plotting to end my life. Meanwhile, my family is not from that town.”
This encounter, he labeled as an encounter with an ‘Awoyo Sofo’. The rap features an impressive set of bars from Kofi Mole, produced and mastered by Songo.
