According to reports in Mozambique, over 90 people have lost their lives after a boat they were on capsized off the country’s northern coast on Sunday.
The boat, which, according to a representative of the Island Administration, they were fleeing to due to a cholera outbreak in Lunga, could accommodate a maximum of 100 people.
The maritime authority of Mozambique reported that the boat, which had 130 people on board, might have been hit by high waves, causing it to capsize and leading to the deaths of the people.
More than 37,000 cases have been reported so far since the outbreak of cholera in September 2022.
