Baba Rahman defended exceptionally well and produced some excellent passes up front for the Black Stars team against Portugal, according to Ghana coach Otto Addo.

The Reading FC player, in the team’s 3-2 loss on Thursday, performed admirably defensively, according to the Ghanaian coach.

“Baba Rahman made a strong defense forward with some solid passes. The problem was his position and yes I admit he was unlucky and made a mistake. But he played so well.”

“What I don’t like about the press is that u depend so much on the negatives but we also have to look at the positives. He defended so well and created some good chances too”.

The Selacao of Portugal defeated Ghana’s Black Stars on Thursday night in Group H of the 2022 FIFA World Cup competition in Qatar, handing Ghana its first loss of the tournament.

Ghana got off to a strong start in the match, holding their defense in check and allowing the Portuguese very few opportunities to score in a half that was dominated by the Europeans.

The Portuguese dominated the flamboyant European squad for the first 45 minutes of the game, controlling more than 70% of the ball. Ghana was the second-best team.

Cristiano Ronaldo was given the opportunity to score for Portugal, but Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi stepped in to stop the Super Star.

Osman Bukari’s goal in the 89th minute gave Ghana new life, and they came close to salvaging a point when Inaki Williams skillfully tripped up Diogo Costa in the dying seconds. However, Williams slipped at the key second as he attempted to nip in front of the goalie.

The Black Stars’ match against Asian superpower South Korea will take place at Al Rayyan’s Education City Stadium on Monday.
